Progress and knowledge with PAL Robotics’ webinar

Strong partnerships are essential to advancements in robotics, in order to use technology to address societal challenges – such as increasing aging population, challenges in food production to meet the needs of an ever-growing world population, as well as challenges and opportunities in industrial modernisation.

Our webinar How to advance robotics through EU projectsis the introduction you’re looking for if you would like to find out more about working together on collaborative projects and how partnerships help to advance robotics, enabling new use cases, and their application in various fields. The webinar will take place on Thursday 1 July 2021 from 10.30am-11.30am (CEST).

In our webinar “How to advance robotics through EU projects”:

  • We will share our knowledge of working on projects within the Horizon Europe programme;
  • We’ll talk more about building partnerships in EU projects to advance robotics;
  • We’ll tell you about examples of current collaborative projects with use cases in areas such as healthcare, AI and agri-food;
  • We will explain more on our knowledge and expertise in EU collaborative projects;
  • And how our robots can help you accelerate in your research needs.

The free webinar with limited places also includes the chance to have your questions answered in a live Q&A session.

The webinar will be hosted and presented by Anaël Le Bihan, EU Projects Coordinator, Gizem Bozdemir, EU Projects Coordinator, and Narcis Miguel Baños, Robotics Engineer.

Who is the webinar for?

If you are interested in exploring collaborations in European robotics, whether this is within the Horizon Europe framework or independent of this programme, this webinar will be useful to you.

In the webinar we will tell you more about the EU funding programmes and open calls, trends in the sector, our management and technical expertise in EU collaborative projects, project use cases and how working together we can make real progress in developing robotics to help us in our everyday lives – including robots as home and healthcare assistants and robotics to collaborate with humans side by side in industry.

Examples of EU projects and use cases

We are partners in over 15 EU research projects at PAL Robotics. This includes robotics for healthcare, industry and research and development (R&D). We work together with other European organisations in order to boost innovation in several fields such as Collaborative Robots, Healthcare, Agri-Food and many more. Here are some examples of our current EU research projects we are partners in:

  • SPRING aims to develop Socially Assistive Robots with the ability to perform multi-person interactions and have an open and extensive dialogue.
  • CANOPIES has the goal of developing a Human-Robot prototype in crop farming (Agri-Food) within a table grape vineyard.
  • Eurobench aims to create the first benchmarking framework for robotic systems in Europe and is focussed on bipedal machines: exoskeletons, humanoids etc.
  • OpenDR aims to harness Deep Learning for advanced perception and cognition in robotics.
  • Evolved-5G aims to contribute towards the fourth industrial revolution and/or Industry 4.0.

Our robots including TALOS, REEM-C, ARI, StockBot, TIAGo and TIAGo Base are used for hardware customization, software and hardware integration, and software development in the collaborative projects we take part in.

Our robots and platforms are used in collaborative research projects as they have software and hardware that is customizable. In some projects we act as a platform provider, whilst in others we act as a software developer working in areas such as navigation, walking and HRI (Human-Robot Interaction). We also have extensive experience of project proposals, and project management of collaborative projects.

What is Horizon Europe?

Horizon Europe, under the European Commission is a €100 billion research and innovation programme which succeeds the existing programme, Horizon 2020. Horizon Europe includes robotics research, to be able to develop new solutions to societal challenges including health and aging, smart transport and cities, energy, environment and more.

Horizon Europe supports European partnerships including with EU countries, the private sector, foundations, as well as with other stakeholders. Using research and innovation efforts to deliver on global challenges and industrial modernisation is the overall goal. The collaboration of the robotics community is important here, including research institutions and universities, together with industry.
